HVN Launches New Global Search Experience with Interactive Maps Technology

HVN has just released a new interactive Destinations Portal to help professional trip designers and travel agents discover private residences, homes, suites, and villas available for rent across the globe. This launch represents a meaningful milestone towards HVN's mission to help everyone find their haven and feel at home in the world.

The new HVN Destinations Portal features a first-of-its-kind interactive world map, searchable list of travel destinations, and curated collections based on interest and group size. With over 175,000 private listings bookable on HVN and growing weekly, the portal is poised to become an essential part of the modern trip designer's toolkit in helping navigate the complex and ever-expanding world of short-term rentals.

Inspired by research showing that the planning stages of a vacation are the source of greatest happiness in a traveler's journey, HVN's engineers and product designers sought to create a joyful and shareable discovery experience that could help overcome the paralysis of choice often presented by a standard search bar.

Drawing on the HVN team's prior experience with geospatial data visualizations, the custom-built interactive map makes it possible to click into any region and dynamically explore destinations where HVN has a presence. Tailoring the search experience to the travel-specific use case, HVN created custom geographic boundary definitions and place IDs to more accurately represent local travel markets, layering in expert insights where existing open source map data does not provide a complete picture of the on-the-ground experience.

In addition to providing a helpful discovery tool to those just embarking on their trip planning journey, HVN hopes that the Destinations Portal will provide a valuable educational resource for both travelers and professionals alike. Each pin on the map features custom editorial content providing a destination overview from HVN's in-house team of category experts, informed by local destination partners.

Dedicated destination landing pages, planned for release in the coming months, will invite trip designers to dive even deeper into what makes each destination unique - featuring insider tips on the best times to travel, customizable itinerary inspirations, and expert recommendations on the best private home and villa options for different travel styles.
